Well, we have had yet another eventful week. From Sunday into Monday, I experienced a severe headache and nausea that wouldn’t go away, even when I took a relatively large dose of Tylenol for the headache. I also spent most of Sunday night being awake with a racing heart and heart palpitations. At times, my resting heart rate was a little over 100 bpm. Something was up. So, I called the hospital and talked to one of the nurses in L&D Triage. She told me to come in so I could be tested for sudden onset pre-eclampsia.
Thankfully, tests came back negative for pre-eclampsia. But, while I was hooked up to the monitors, I started having horribly painful contractions that were coming every 3 min and eventually were back to back. We, doctors and nurses included, were convinced I was in active labor. But, after several hours of contractions, I had no dilation progression. So, they sent me home to deal with the contractions at home. I’ll admit that I was an emotional mess. I broke down crying. I’m thankful that baby girl is still able to continue growing, but I am exhausted. I fear that I’ll be too exhausted to deal with labor when the time for her to make her presence comes. If you could pray for me about that, I would greatly appreciate it!
On a wonderful side note, we have made it to 35 weeks! The doctors will no longer be trying to stop labor if she ends up coming early.
Baby’s Heartbeat: 140’s
Baby’s Size: approximately 19 1/2 inches and 5 1/2 lbs
Baby’s Gender: girl!
Baby’s Movement: She does more shifting than anything. She’s running out of room, so there are less kicks.
Baby’s Position: still head down and still very low
Weight Gain So Far: 37 lbs (I actually lost 3 lbs since last week, even though my picture doesn’t look like it. I don’t know if it’s because of stress or what, but I’ll take it!)
Morning Sickness: I’ve been battling nausea if I don’t eat something first thing in the morning.
Cravings: ruffle chips and Ranch dip
Aversions: I can’t really think of any new ones.
Body Changes: I now have an outy bellybutton. This is my first pregnancy to experience it. So weird! The belly has also seemed to have popped out some more. You can see it in the comparison photo with last week’s belly pic.
I have been a lot more emotional and tense lately. I don’t like how I’ve been feeling. We just have a lot going on in our lives, so I think it’s the stress from all of that.
Labor Indications: As I mentioned last week, I already lost my plug. So, it really shouldn’t be too much longer. I am experiencing horrible lower back pain and contractions every day. At my last hospital visit, I was 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. That doesn’t mean much to me though because I was 3-4 cm dilated for weeks with all of my previous pregnancies.
We are excited and ready to see baby girl! Our oldest son, Ian, keeps asking when she’s going to come. He is very excited! Both he and Isaac love giving my belly kisses. Joshua (the youngest), however, is going through a big jealousy stage right now. He’s going to have a very difficult time when baby girl comes. I hope he adjusts well!
