Let’s have a chat! If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, wonder no more. If not and you really don’t care . . . well, that’s okay too. I won’t take offense. I really won’t.

As I look back on the past year and a half of silence, I’m thankful I took the time to relax from the blog. I also had very good reason to. If you want to see my latest video about why I’m glad I took a break, you can check it out on my Facebook page {here}. So, if you’re wondering what has occurred over the past year and a half, read on. . . .

Evan EASed. You read that right. Evan EASed out of the Marine Corps. This is a decision that actually surprised both of us. We both honestly had it in our minds that he would go full career with the Marines. He was already a little over halfway there, so why not? But God had other plans and lead us elsewhere. We both separately experienced this leading while Evan was on deployment in Kuwait.  We knew that God wanted him to get out but at the time, we had no idea what the plans were. Things quickly fell into place shortly after we said, “Okay God, you’re in control. Please lead.”

We moved. This goes without saying. Since we were living on base and starting a new life sans Marine Corps, moving was an obvious decision. We knew that God wanted us to be closer to my sister who tragically lost her husband three years ago. This involved going South and moving several states away. This was one of the best decisions we made! I love being close to family again. I could do without the super hot summer though. Then again, it’s not as hot as the desert got, so I’ll stop that complaining right now.

Evan grew a beard. As per post-military ritual (it seems), my husband grew a beard, and a pretty awesome one at that!

Isn’t it great? He shaved it off only once for me, when I was really struggling with seeing him with a beard. That was the last time he did that. He’s been bearded ever since. I’ll have to admit it took a bit getting used to, since I had been so used to seeing him clean-shaven. But I’ve grown to love his rugged look and have learned to “respect the beard.”

I became a school teacher. Shortly after we made the decision to move closer to my sister, I was offered a job at the same Christian school my sister teaches at. I now teach middle school English, Music, and Drama. I love every single bit of it! Becoming a teacher was kind of ironic for me, because in college I vowed that I would never be a teacher. Now I’m a teacher and couldn’t see myself doing anything else! It is truly an amazing and rewarding experiencing.

Evan became an Aflac agent, and he rocks at it!

This man really can do anything he puts his mind to, and he inspires me in so many ways! Selling insurance is not easy work; don’t ever let anyone make you believe that it is. I love him and his tenacity so much!

My Etsy shop has a new logo. I felt it was time to buckle down and get a legitimate branding logo for my Etsy shop. I’m really liking it! You should go check it out, by the way, if you haven’t  already. 😉

Evan may be starting a side business of his own. Ya’ll (see the new southern in me?), I am super excited about this! I’m not going to reveal this right now, but there is something really awesome in the making. My husband is such the idea-man, and this one is great. I’m excited to see where this one is going to go!

There is so much more to tell you, but I feel like I need to cut this short. I just want to say a huge thank you to all of my readers who have been faithful, despite me being gone for nearly two years! I’m back and excited to continue on this journey with you.
