Backyard Garden Paradise

Back in July, I had provided an Instagram sneak-peek of my in-laws’ A-MAZING backyard paradise. If you missed it, then you are in luck because I am going to provide a mini tour right here. There is nothing like feeling like you can escape from life and enjoy peace. That’s the feeling that I get when we visit our in-laws’ house in the summer and have the privilege of reveling in the paradise of their backyard. It’s so serene and peaceful, complete with a wooden swing and the sound of running water traipsing its fingers across the stones of their pond. Colorful fish dance among the bubbles, eagerly waiting to be fed. A soft breeze sweeps across the flowers, carrying with it the scent of spring. It’s beautiful, refreshing, and reminds me of God’s love for beauty in His creation. We certainly do have an incredible God! I will say nothing more and just let the pictures speak for themselves.

A Very Unexpected Blessing

So, I have come to realize that getting back into blogging after being gone for so long is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be! Good heavens! Not to mention, writing about my postpartum struggles is more challenging than I ever anticipated. I promise that I will continue my postpartum posts, as I think they will be a help and blessing to anyone going through the same. But, I think I will need to do them sparingly over time, with other types of posts intermingling. With each new postpartum post, I will be sure to include links to the previous and next ones, as to keep the flow for those who might want to read them from start to finish. Phew! All of that to say that I am interrupting the series with a delightful little picture, courtesy of our boys . . . Continue reading

A Clouded Mind {My Journey Through Postpartum Mood Disorders}

I know many of my lovely readers have been wondering where I’d gone. Some of you even reached out to me via email and Facebook, and I thank you so much for that! The thing is, I needed a break . . . a long one. These past 11 months or so have been a difficult journey for me, as I encountered severe postpartum issues, including depression, anxiety, OCD, etc. I’m seeing a break in the clouds and feel compelled to share my story. I feel like postpartum mental struggles are not talked about enough and many moms are left suffering silently. I want to help break the silence. You’re not alone, momma! These issues are very real, but with each voice, we can find a way to provide hope and help for the sufferers. I decided that I will share my story in parts, as it is much too long to put in one post. I am still growing and learning, but God’s grace has been ever abundant. I will still have bad days, but I’m slowly learning to find God in the storm. I just ask for your grace. This is a very raw topic, but I want to bring God glory through this! If He can use me to be an encouragement to at least one person, then His work is not in vain. Follow along as I share with you my heart, my mind, and my struggles with my faith in God. Guest Post: 5 Tips for Communicating Through Your Next PCS

I’m so excited to be introducing you to Becca from Making Room! Becca contacted me back when I had asked for people willing to write guest posts for my blog while I took my month-long blog hiatus. I’m so glad she did! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading her blog and seeing all the interesting sights of Italy. You see, Becca’s husband is in the military, and they were stationed in Italy for a few years. They are now in the middle of a PCS back to the states. Becca writes about their experiences in Italy but also discusses topics such as, simplicity parenting and the art of hospitality. Today, she is taking over my blog to talk about how to successfully communicate during a PCS. Please be sure to stop by Becca’s blog and show some love!

5 Tips for Communicating Through Your Next PCS

My aunt grabbed my arms, her blue eyes sparkling in the low light of the reception hall. “This is your wedding day, and I have three pieces of advice for you. Never forget them, and I promise that you’ll have a great marriage.” Continue reading

The “R” Word

The “R” word, some are running from it and others are running around like a chicken with their heads chopped off in order to find the perfect person.  I’m talking about “Relationships.” The time in one’s life where we discuss our perfect match with our friends, make lists, read books and magazines, you name it, anything to make us feel as if we are getting closer to our perfect match. Will we ever really find our perfect match? I truly believe that Continue reading
