DIY Book Page Vase (Up-Cycled Glass Vase 2)

IMG_1668-3

If you’ve read my DIY Rope Vase post, you’ll know that I have been up-cycling some of the plain glass vases that we have in our house. I’m back with another tutorial in the up-cylced glass vase series. I’ve always loved book page projects. I think they’re so chic looking. Maybe it’s just because I am an avid reader (when I have the time, of course). But, I really do think book pages add a unique, vintage-y look that you wouldn’t be able to get otherwise.

In this post, I’m going to show you how you too can transform an ordinary glass vase into a unique, chic one. Continue reading

You Are Special, Unique, One-of-a-Kind (Reminding Our Children They Are Special)

We currently live in a society where there seems to be little self worth and a lot of imitation. Children these days feel the need to imitate other people, because they are not confident with the way God made them. There is so much pressure to be someone they are not.  They feel the need to be like the “cool” kids or be pretty or be smart. The thing is, through these efforts to be someone else, they’re losing the identity of who they really are. I’ll admit that this is something I struggled with most of my life, and I’ll have to be honest that I still do struggle with it time to time.

This has weighed heavily on my heart over the past month or so. I don’t want our children to grow up feeling this way. I don’t want the world telling them that they don’t matter, that they are just another person. I want them to know that they are special and uniquely made. They don’t have to be like someone else. They can just be themselves and be Continue reading

Blogging Goals 2014

Once again, it is well past midnight, and here I am just now starting a blog post. I knew that blogging was going to be hard even before I started it. A friend told me all the things that I needed to get sorted such as hosting on linux or something similar and that took a long time to plan. But she forget to mention how hard it would still be once I had everything set up. You would have thought that I would have learnt by now. But boy, I sure do need to get out of the habit of doing this! (Maybe I should add it to the list.) Then again, it’s the only way stuff gets done. Good thing I’m a night owl! Although, my night owl abilities have been staggering as of late. Exhaustion is kicking in a whole lot quicker than usual. My little nuggets have been running me ragged. Not to mention, I just have a lot on my plate period.

~ By the way, don’t forget about your opportunity to ask me questions, any questions at all. Head on over to the {post} to see what I’m talking about. I’m going to be putting together my “Coffee With Lydia” video some time this week.

Any-who, I just wanted to use this post to share my blogging goals for this year. I had established some goals for myself at the beginning of the year and have actually done pretty well on some of them so far. But, I’ll admit that I’ve been allowing myself to get lax on them. I know that it’s because I don’t have accountability. So, I thought there’s no better way than to just share them with the world. Whether or not you (my lovely readers) physically help me keep accountable, just putting it out there will help me. It will also help me feel better by looking at all the things I’ve already accomplished. So, without further ado . . .

Memorial Day {Remembering The Fallen}

memorial day

This past week was a sobering one for me. Our family battled illness a lot last week, but that’s not what made it sobering. For the entirety of the week, I worked on a very special wreath order I had received the week prior. This wreath was made in memory of a Marine who lost his life 11 years ago and will be placed on his headstone today, Memorial Day. The day I mailed out that wreath, another order came in. This one was for yet another Marine who lost his life. With Memorial Day right around the corner Continue reading
