December brought some excitement into our lives. During the bustle of Christmas, we discovered we were pregnant. Though massively exciting, it was a bit of a jolt. We didn’t plan for it. To be honest, I didn’t really think it would happen. It had been over two years since we’d had our daughter, and since we hadn’t been preventing, I began to think that perhaps I was suffering from infertility as a result of her traumatic birth. The fact that I’m even writing this now is a miracle.

Once the shock of the pregnancy wore off, deep excitement set in. We started brainstorming names and discussing our guesses over the gender. Our dream of a large family was becoming a reality.

But that dream was abruptly cut short five weeks later. I started miscarrying and soon found myself being wheeled into an emergency D&C, as my body was not handling the miscarriage well.

After coming home, pain set in. I was already in physical pain, but at this point, a deep-rooted ache swelled over my heart. Losing that baby suddenly made me realize how badly I wanted him. I began to question God’s goodness. This little one increased our count to four babies. Four babies that we would not be able to hold or love this side of heaven. Four babies who are resting in Jesus’s care.

This is a bracelet my husband got for me a few weeks after our fourth miscarriage, to celebrate their lives.

Then, when I thought the pain was gone, we lost another one. The pain wasn’t gone. It was just hiding behind self-dependency and fear. It erupted into another cycle of questions about God’s goodness. Why would God allow us to lose five children? Why?

The months started dragging on, and we have found ourselves in a period of painful waiting. Each month brings hope for another. Each month brings fear we’ll lose another.

I started battling doubt. I started letting the enemy feed me lies. Is God not giving us another child because I’m actually a bad mom? How do I have the right to be sad when God has already given us four beautiful children? Perhaps I don’t really have the right amount of love to give to a large family.

Our four living children showing the numbers of the babies we have in heaven.

On and on the lies cycled endlessly in my head. I tried to lay myself down in gratitude, but I was hurting, and I’d be lying if I said I’m not anymore.

Waiting hurts. Sometimes it makes you want to scream. Sometimes it sends an ache the spears to the center of your soul. Sometimes it fills the nights with lonely cries that only God and you know about. It makes you feel like you’re in a valley that you’ll never climb out of.

But I’m learning that there is beauty in the waiting. It makes you more dependent on the One who knit together your very being. It makes you relentlessly rely on the One who can hold you through it.

So, as I wait, I don’t stop dreaming. I don’t stop hoping. I start resting. Resting in His goodness. Resting in the unknown. Being thankful despite the pain. I go on waiting, even though there is pain in the waiting.

No one told me this would happen, but it did. It came out of nowhere and hit me like a ton of bricks. It was a part of post-military life that no one ever really talked about. I never anticipated this. But I suddenly found myself crying, and that’s when I realized what I was battling . . .

Loneliness.

When my husband buy lasix online cheap, it was very bittersweet. We were both eager for our new life. I was excited to have my husband home again for good. We were all happy to not be saying “see you later” anymore. But we still loved the military life. There was so much about it that we knew we were going to miss dearly, and that part made us sad. Yet, adventure awaited us, and we were ready to take the plunge (albeit trepidatiously)!

A new, busy life.

As soon as we moved, I immediately began my job as a teacher. I was incredibly busy. I hardly had time to really sit and think about how different our life suddenly was. We also spent the first few months living with my sister and her family, and I daresay that actually helped the transition go much more smoothly, from an emotional aspect. Having her love and support through those months of upheaval was invaluable.

Then, after we moved into our own place and the school year ended, I plunged myself deeply into college courses. Once again, I didn’t have time to think about the changes. I was still on a high, full of joy, glad to have my husband home on a regular basis.

But life went on and we got more settled. I had time to think, and that’s when I realized the ache. It was there all along, but I had kept stuffing it down deep inside. I had been covering it up with busyness. I couldn’t stuff it down anymore, and it bubbled to the surface. I sat on my bed and cried . . . ugly cried.

I was overwhelmed with loneliness.

It seeped in when I least expected it, and it still does.

I should be on top of the world, yet the loneliness continues to stare me back in the face. People might argue that I shouldn’t be having those feelings. How can I possibly be feeling lonely when I’m living close to family and now have my husband home all the time? The irony is that I know he feels it too. We have a healthy marriage, but our hearts are weighed down by the aches of loneliness.

There’s something so special about the friendships made during military life.

This season has made me appreciate our past military life all the more. You see, the military helped forge some of the deepest, lifelong friendships. Making friends was surprisingly easy. But as a military spouse, you knew you needed to. You know that your time in any location will likely be for only a few years, so time is always of the essence. Those friends become your biggest support and help. You learn very quickly who is for you, and you bond. There is something so special about that bond between military wives. We get it. We get the life. We get each other. We’re not afraid to go deep. We care for each other through the good and the bad. And when one of us gets relocated, we don’t lose touch. The bond is still there.

buy lasix overnight delivery

The same goes for my husband and his buddies. No matter what unit he served with, he forged deep friendships. These are men that he could depend his very life on. These are men who saw him at his best and at his worst.

Though you don’t lose those friendships once you transition back into the civilian world, you do find yourself in a realm of people who don’t understand the life you once lived. You feel disconnected and out of place. Making friends is suddenly not easy anymore. The things that once instantly bonded you to others now make you strangely different. You go from a world where everybody is looking for friends to a world where everybody already has their group of friends. You feel like an outsider trying to wedge yourself in.

Please don’t misunderstand what I’m saying. I am not friendless. I have made friends since we’ve left the military life. But the bonds made during that time were so special that my heart aches for that. It creates an indescribable sense of longing.

I know that it will take time, but I wish I had been prepared for it.

I wish someone would have warned me about the loneliness. I didn’t expect this after military life.

Let’s have a chat! If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, wonder no more. If not and you really don’t care . . . well, that’s okay too. I won’t take offense. I really won’t.

As I look back on the past year and a half of silence, I’m thankful I took the time to relax from the blog. I also had very good reason to. If you want to see my latest video about why I’m glad I took a break, you can check it out on my Facebook page {cheap lasik surgery}. So, if you’re wondering what has occurred over the past year and a half, read on. . . .

Evan EASed. You read that right. Evan EASed out of the Marine Corps. This is a decision that actually surprised both of us. We both honestly had it in our minds that he would go full career with the Marines. He was already a little over halfway there, so why not? But God had other plans and lead us elsewhere. We both separately experienced this leading while Evan was on cheap lasix for dogs in Kuwait.  We knew that God wanted him to get out but at the time, we had no idea what the plans were. Things quickly fell into place shortly after we said, “Okay God, you’re in control. Please lead.”

We moved. This goes without saying. Since we were living on base and starting a new life sans Marine Corps, moving was an obvious decision. We knew that God wanted us to be closer to my sister who cheap lasix three years ago. This involved going South and moving several states away. This was one of the best decisions we made! I love being close to family again. I could do without the super hot summer though. Then again, it’s not as hot as the desert got, so I’ll stop that complaining right now.

Evan grew a beard. As per post-military ritual (it seems), my husband grew a beard, and a pretty awesome one at that!

Isn’t it great? He shaved it off only once for me, when I was really struggling with seeing him with a beard. That was the last time he did that. He’s been bearded ever since. I’ll have to admit it took a bit getting used to, since I had been so used to seeing him clean-shaven. But I’ve grown to love his rugged look and have learned to “cheap lasix 40 mg.”

I became a school teacher. Shortly after we made the decision to move closer to my sister, I was offered a job at the same Christian school my sister teaches at. I now teach middle school English, Music, and Drama. I love every single bit of it! Becoming a teacher was kind of ironic for me, because in college I vowed that I would never be a teacher. Now I’m a teacher and couldn’t see myself doing anything else! It is truly an amazing and rewarding experiencing.

Evan became an Aflac agent, and he rocks at it!

Evan insurance agent

This man really can do anything he puts his mind to, and he inspires me in so many ways! Selling insurance is not easy work; don’t ever let anyone make you believe that it is. I love him and his tenacity so much!

My Etsy shop has a new logo. I felt it was time to buckle down and get a legitimate branding logo for my Etsy shop. I’m really liking it! You should go check it out, by the way, if you haven’t  already. 😉

Evan may be starting a side business of his own. Ya’ll (see the new southern in me?), I am super excited about this! I’m not going to reveal this right now, but there is something really awesome in the making. My husband is such the idea-man, and this one is great. I’m excited to see where this one is going to go!

There is so much more to tell you, but I feel like I need to cut this short. I just want to say a huge thank you to all of my readers who have been faithful, despite me being gone for nearly two years! I’m back and excited to continue on this journey with you.

It was Christmastime.

My parents and I were getting ready to walk into a magical, olden-time Christmas village. I was pushing my stroller, with our infant son snuggled up inside. It was cold and snowy – the perfect time to visit the Christmas village. This was a tradition. We loved always coming here, and I was excited to be joining my family for the tradition again!

I pulled out my camera and was ready to start snapping pictures when a bright red, “no card in camera,” message blinked back at me.

Tears welled up in my eyes and a heavy cloud filled my chest. With a lump in my throat and trying to keep my tears at bay, I said out loud, “The camera card is not in my camera.”

“It’s okay, Lydia. You can use my camera,” my dad replied.

Rationality left me, and I lost it. Tears erupted down my cheeks, as a panicked feeling overtook me.

“No! I have to use my camera! You don’t understand. I need to take perfect pictures. I need to capture everything perfectly for Evan! He’s never been here. He’s your only son-in-law who has never seen Christmas Village and will once again not get to see it! I have to get pictures for him, so that he can experience it somehow!” By now, I was sobbing, irritable and a ready to just grab our son and go back to my parents’ house. I suddenly didn’t want to be there anymore.

My best friend had been standing next to me and gently put her arm around me. She hugged me and calmly suggested that we go to the car and check to see if I had left the camera card in the camera bag. We did just that and sure enough, I found my camera card and suddenly felt incredibly silly.

Why did I behave that way? What was wrong with me?

My husband had buy lasix online australia just two weeks prior. On top of that, we had a newborn – our first. It wasn’t that something was wrong with me. It’s just that I was . . . lonely.

It wasn’t until that irrational outburst that I realized how lonely I was feeling.

Christmas time is when families are supposed to come together, not be pulled apart. It just didn’t seem right to enjoy Christmas and everything that comes with it, without my best friend. There was a hole in my heart that nobody in my family could fill.

It didn’t matter what traditions we did or where we went, I was constantly reminded of the reality that my husband was not there to enjoy it with me. Instead, he was on the other side of the world, in a combat zone, with no good form of communication. I didn’t even know if I would be able to get a phone call on Christmas Day.

The whole holiday just felt empty.

Without the man I loved, I almost just wanted it to go away. I wanted to just curl up and hibernate until New Year’s Day had come and gone. Maybe that sounds selfish. But, the loneliness engulfed me, and I was ready to get this deployment done and over with.

This is the second year my sister is having to face Christmas where can i buy lasix water pills online. I see the same flood of emotions sweep over her. But, she doesn’t have an end to look forward to. This is her new normal. Loneliness does not discriminate. It doesn’t just hang around during the holidays, but it feels more prevalent on the holidays . . . the time when everyone is supposed to be together.

If you are feeling lonely this Christmas, whether it’s because of a deployed spouse or a lost loved one, can I offer some encouragement?

It’s okay to cry.

Don’t let anyone tell you that it’s not okay to cry. Crying is a normal reaction to loneliness. Go ahead and cry. And don’t feel like you need to apologize for it.

can you buy lasix over the counter

You don’t have to be strong or pretend you’re not feeling the way you are.

Sometimes it’s easier to just put up a wall to forget the emotions and set aside that lonely feeling. But, all that does is create a dam that is bound to break down later on. Honestly, the people around you understand, for the most part. They know that you most likely will be more emotional without your spouse. It’s okay.

can i buy lasix over the counter

It’s okay to lean into your friends (and family) for support.

Even if some of the people around you don’t truly understand what you’re going through, others will at least be more sensitive to it. I’m so thankful for my friend who wrapped who arms around me and helped gently pull me back to reality. She didn’t tell me to knock it off. She didn’t say that I was stupid for crying or for being irrational. She simply hugged me and let me have my moment. Then, she helped. Find that friend or family member who will let you cry without trying to fix anything – that friend who will be understanding even when she doesn’t understand.

Remember that God is with you and loves you.

He is holding you with His strong arms, and He feels the pain of your loneliness. Praise the Lord that we have a God who understands our afflictions and feels our pain!

I’ve been quiet.

I’ve been really quiet.

As I reflect on this past year and all that has happened, there has been a multitude of highs and lows. Big things are playing out in our family’s life right now, but the one that has topped the charts was welcoming my husband home from cheap lasik eye surgery philippines!

If you are on my cheap lasik surgery philippines or cheap lasik eye surgery in delhi fan page, then you’ve already heard the news. But, I haven’t made it blog world official yet. So, here I am, writing the post that I should have written a few months ago. I think you can forgive me though.

The transition after your spouse returns from deployment is a difficult one and is not one to take lightly; this is the reason I have been so quiet on the blog front. I wanted to put my blog aside and focus on what is most important – my family. I love all of you and am so thankful for your support, but I felt that this was a time my family needed my full attention. I’m glad I took the time off.

My husband came home in October.

On the day of, I was like a giddy school girl. Nerves pulsed through my veins as if I was waiting for my first high school dance.

Since this was our last homecoming, I wanted to go all out. I decided to dress like a woman from the 1950’s, and it took three different outfits before I finally got the right one.

My best friend came over to the house to watch our children so that I could go to the homecoming by myself. (We had decided to surprise our kids the following day.)

Our homecoming was at night (as have been all of our homecomings), so I wanted to make sure he could find me. I blew up a bunch of red balloons with helium and included one that glowed.

To be honest, it didn’t glow very well. Ah well. He still found me, so that’s all that matters.

I cried and we both shook with the reality of each other’s warmth. It was and is heavenly!

We then went home and snuck up to our room for the night. Long story short, we were able to pull off a fun surprise for the kids the next day. We planned a “birthday party” for our oldest, during which my husband showed up. Needless to say, our kids were shocked and didn’t know what to do at first. It was almost as if they were in disbelief. They finally warmed up to him and realized that daddy really was home! They have been attached to him ever since!

I know this post was short and sweet, but I didn’t want to make it too lengthy. Right now, our family is going through some pretty big and exciting life changes, and we will be talking more about that on the blog later on. Meanwhile, keep your eyes out for some pretty awesome changes coming on the blog in the future!

Before having kids, I naively had this dream of what mornings with my children would look like. I imagined it would involve them quietly slipping into my bed for some morning snuggles and all of us laying there peacefully and maybe reading a book before we got up to enjoy the day. I would then go to the living room and do a workout video while they play nicely. The morning workout would certainly be followed up by a hearty, healthy breakfast. I was naïve.

Don’t get me wrong, that type of instance does happen . . . maybe once every six months.

Reality set in after we started actually having children. My mornings became filled with alarm clock buzzing, children fighting over the same toy, frantic rushing around trying to get everyone dressed with a naked toddler always somehow escaping before I can get clothes on him, and making sure the kids are fed.

Work out?  If I wanted to accidentally trample a child, sure! For some reason, the moment I pop that awesome workout dvd into the player, the baby suddenly wants to be in my arms even though she had ignored me all morning up until that point and the toddler starts playing roulette with my legs to see how much he can weave in and out of them without getting stepped on.

And breakfast? Ha! IF I remember to eat, it’s usually a quick granola bar or something I can grab on the go, with nutrition being more of an afterthought.

If any of this sounds similar to your type of morning, don’t lose hope! I have discovered five simple things you can incorporate for a healthy start to your day while multitasking in the process! You can have a busy morning and still be healthy.

Purchase lasix - Lasix to buy in the uk

Drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning actually has some extra benefits to it that you might not realize. It helps jumpstart your metabolism and re-hydrates your body after a full night of sleep and not drinking a single thing.

This might seem almost too simple, but hey, I’m up for anything that can help get my metabolism going in the morning!

Do oil pulling while getting ready for the day

buy lasix diuretic

Oil pulling is something that has become quite popular over the past few years. It involves swishing around 1 tbsp of coconut oil in your mouth for 10-20 minutes.

When done properly and consistently for several days in a row, oil pulling helps release toxins from the body. Because it involves releasing toxins, you must make sure you spit the oil out when you are finished swishing it and do NOT swallow it. Otherwise, you will be swallowing said toxins.

There are several benefits to oil pulling, but some of the main ones (in addition to detoxification) include diminished headaches, clearer skin, whitened and stronger teeth, and increased energy.

The awesome thing about oil pulling is that it can be done while you are getting ready for your day. You can pretty much do anything during that 10-20 minutes of swishing, as long as it doesn’t require talking.

(Oil pulling can be done with various types of oils, but coconut oil has proven itself to be the best for this.)

Incorporate simple exercises throughout your morning

You don’t have to to the gym or do a workout video in the morning to fit in some exercising. Do some squats while you’re oil pulling and fixing up your hair or some leg lifts while making breakfast or changing diapers. If you have stairs, try running up and down them instead of walking. Incorporating exercises throughout your morning routine is easy and effective! You might not feel like you’re doing much, but every little bit helps in the long run.

Pre-make your breakfast the night before

I am a huge fan of pre-made breakfasts! I love taking an afternoon to make homemade waffles and breakfast burritos and freezing them so that I can simply pop one of them in the microwave each morning.

buy lasix for dogs

But, in an effort to make healthier breakfast choices, overnight oats have become my all-time favorite pre-made breakfast. They are super easy and take only a few minutes to prep the night before. You simply mix oats and a bunch of other ingredients and then pour it all into a mason jar to keep in the fridge overnight. The morning results are amazing! You get a creamy and delicious breakfast that almost tastes like dessert. I’ll take that over anything any day!

Today, I’m going to share with you my Chunky Monkey Overnight Oats recipe.

Chunky Monkey Overnight Oats

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup honey or vanilla Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup (heaping) gluten-free old fashioned rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 ripe banana (mashed)
  • 1 TB ground flaxseed meal
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 TB natural peanut butter
  • 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1-2 TB honey
  • pinch of salt

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and then pour into a mason jar. Seal the jar and store in the refrigerator overnight. Open the next morning, garnish with sliced banana and chocolate chips and enjoy!

Drink your veggies

I’ve always been interested in juicing veggies because I really struggle to consume the proper amount of vegetables each day. But, my busy mornings just don’t avail for the time it takes to do juicing. Not to mention, I don’t even own a juicer which obviously makes it even more difficult.

After browsing through the grocery section of Walmart, I’ve discovered a really good alternative! My kids even love it too!

buy generic lasix

buy lasix from uk has recently come out with two new flavors in their line of Veggie Blends, which has completely transformed my mornings. They have V8® Veggie Blends: Berry Bliss and V8® Veggie Blends: Caribbean Greens. In an effort to be healthier and consume more veggies each day, V8® Veggie Blends have become an easy, affordable way for me to meet my recommended daily intake of vegetables.

I can drink an 8 oz. glass of the juice drink with my breakfast and very easily consume one full serving of veggies (which is equivalent to ½ cup).

Adding V8® Veggie Blends: Caribbean Greens to my mornings has allowed me an easier alternative to consuming the vegetables I struggle to eat the most while also giving me a great boost of the antioxidant vitamins A, C and E.

I was able to find the buy lasix online from canada in the juice aisle.

buy lasix from canada

The new Veggie Blend flavors are not yet available online, but you can find V8® Healthy Greens which is another great V8® Veggie drink.

With these five simple things, I can now make each busy morning just a bit healthier.

“Mommy, why does daddy have to work for so long? Why can’t he come back?”

A lump caught in my throat as I bit my lip to fight the tears that threatened to spill out. There was no denying it had been a rough day for us. Daddy was already gone for several months, and we were still waiting for the end to be in sight. That day was particularly rough for all of us, and my 3-year old son was just expressing his desire for daddy to return from deployment.

He didn’t understand why daddy had to be gone for so long.

I continued to stroke his hair while his head laid in my lap.

“Daddy just has a very special job, buddy, and he can’t come home until it’s finished. But, I know he thinks about you every single day and he can’t wait to give you a great big bear hug!”

“Yeah,” he smiled. I could still hear the pain in his voice.

Days later, we received the book, buy lasix 100 mg. The boys and I instantly fell in love with it! It is a perfect read for children of Marines, and now my children get to read it with daddy who has recently returned from deployment!

It teaches Marine Corps history.

From historical figures and famous battles to the beginnings of the Marine Corps, Goodnight Marines incorporates Marine Corps history in a fun and entertaining way. In addition to all of this, a 5-page glossary can be found in the back of the book, which explains in more detail every Marine Corps related item that is mentioned. If your child has questions about anything in the book, the answer can be found in the glossary. This is probably one of my favorite parts of the book!

It describes various aspects of the Marine Corps.

The author, David Dixon, creatively weaves various aspects of the Marine Corps, including descriptions of what they wear, the Marine Corps symbol, the mascot, and the different jobs within the branch.

It allows a sense of pride.

Without giving away too much, I will say that this book does a good job of promoting a sense of pride for the Marines in the Corps. It provides a little more understanding of what our men in uniform do, so that children can feel a sense of safety when struggling with why mommy or daddy are not able to be home.

It is easy to read.

Written in a poetic style and only one or two sentences per page, Goodnight Marines is great for any child of reading age.

It has excellent illustrations.

The illustrator of the book is Phil Jones, a man who worked as an artist for 30 years for Disney. Each picture is colorful, fun, and unique!

The author is a Marine and award-winning author.

David Dixon is a Major in the Marine Corps and is an AH-1W Cobra helicopter pilot and an Iraq War Veteran. He also won the Robert A. Gannon award for his excellent poetry in his book, buy lasix pills.

More about the author and illustrator can be found in the back of the book, as well. In addition to all of this, it has recently become a best seller!

Overall, our family loves this book, and I personally think it is a wonderful tool for children of United States Marines! It also makes a great gift for Christmas or for families with deployed Marines.

If that isn’t awesome enough, Major David Dixon is giving away one copy of Goodnight Marines to a lucky winner! You can enter the giveaway in the rafflecopter below. The giveaway ends at midnight on Saturday, November 5!

I love cake smash photos! I think it is so stinkin adorable to see the delight on the kiddos’ faces when they taste that icing for the first time or the disgust when they can’t understand why they are being asked to touch that sticky, sugary stuff.

There was definitely no disgust this past weekend, when I did a cake smash photo shoot with our baby girl. I never did one with the boys and now I am kicking myself! The photos turned out so well!

I have to say that the success of the photos was partly due to the super cute lasix to buy in the uk that I got from the gorgeous Ashlyn over at Loves The Find.

Ashlyn is pretty much a new kindred spirit. She loves coffee, finding vintage deals, DIY projects, and anything budget-friendly! Sound familiar? If she didn’t live so far away, I’m pretty sure a girl date at a local coffee shop would be in order.

She is here on the blog today, to share some super cute and awesome DIY ideas and tips for an amazing birthday cake smash photo shoot!

Hello there, lovely readers of And This Marine Wife! I’m Ashlyn, the writer behind buy lasix us, a DIY and budget living blog. My husband and I share a great love story along with a strong passion for budget friendly shopping. I’m extremely honored that Lydia wanted to collaborate and used my buy lasix with paypal for her daughter’s cake smash photo shoot. The photos turned out amazing and I couldn’t be more tickled! To round out your cake smash session, I have two fabulous DIY craft tutorials to share along with a list of the best tips and tricks to create the most stunning first birthday photos you can imagine.

DIY Custom Wooden Blocks

These how to order lasix online are not only an adorable addition to your photos, but can serve as a beautiful décor piece in your nursery after. The wooden blocks come in all different sizes, but for a short name like Liam I decided to do the larger 3.5” cube size.

Here is what you will need:

  • Wooden Blocks (I used 3.5” but you can go smaller or larger)
  • Scrapbook Paper
    • I used 2 sheets of the two patterns I choose (chevron and the elephants) but you can choose to use more patterns to cover the sides of the blocks if you want
    • I used 1 sheet of the thicker green paper for the name cut-outs
  • Scissors
  • how to order lasix – Matte Finish
  • Bristle or Foam Brush
  • Covering for working station (I used an old poster board, but you can use cardboard or anything you don’t mind glue getting on)

where to order lasix

Step-by-Step:

  1. Pick out the paper you want to use to cover the sides with
  2. Place the block in a corner of your paper and draw an outline of the other two sides that aren’t the edges (this creates a sharp edge and great guideline for your template to use)
  3. Once you have the outline, cut the two lines you made to end with a square template that you can use to continue with around your paper. I just put the template on top of my paper sections and cut around instead of drawing each square separately, but that is completely up to you! Each block is a cube and will have 6 sides to fill. So for Liam’s name I cut out 24 squares using both patterns.
  4. Once you have all the squares cut for your blocks, start adhering the cut-outs one-by-one by brushing on a little Mod Podge glue directly on the wood and then placing your paper cut-out on top (you like my little helper? ☺, I showed her what I was doing on the non-glue blocks and she was all about helping!).
  5. Once all of your cutouts are attached, pick the “best” side and what pattern you want showing for each letter of the name you are creating.
  6. Create cut-outs of each letter of the name by either free handing (which is what I did) or you can find stencils for each letter.
  7. Apply you letter cut-outs by brushing a little glue directly on the back of the letter and then sticking it to the block.
  8. Finish the blocks by covering all sides with another layer of Mod Podge.

Once the blocks are all dried (took about 2 hours) they are ready to use! How adorable did these turn out? I hope Liam loves them in his room too!

DIY Safari Banner

The next tutorial is for creating the safari banner above. I mean how gorgeous it it?!? I’ve created multiple version of this DIY cake banner (including this purchase lasix online) and all are so unique! For this one I used animals I found at the thrift store for $1.90 (bag containing the elephant, giraffe, and trees)!

Here is what you will need:

  • Safari animals (also consider doing this with other figurines or trucks)
  • Straws/kabob sticks (I had leftover bamboo straws from a tropical themed party, but these can really be any color)
  • String
  • Scrapbook Paper (I used the leftovers from the cube project)
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue
  • Letter stickers

where can i purchase lasix

Step-by-Step:

  1. Cut the paper in about 3″ long rectangle and ¾” wide and bend the paper in half so it is like a small tent, then make the V by cutting into the middle from both sides
  2. Place the letter stickers on the paper
  3. Once the letters are all made, take your string and put the inside crease of you tent over the twine and secure the two side together over the twine with hot glue
  4. Once all letters are attached to the twine, put the straws against the animal and measure how far your string needs to be and where on the animal you will attach the straw
  5. Once you have an idea of where everything needs to be glued, attach the straw to your animal using hot glue
  6. Then you are ready to attach the banner by simply wrapping around the straw and securing with hot glue

Cake Smash Photo Shoot Tips

To complete the perfect cake smash session, here are my top tips and tricks:

Natural light is best

Non-distracting backdrop

    • I personally like using natural elements like the bushes/fence in this shoot, think about going to a park, beach, using a brick building
    • Make the subject the focus not the backdrop

Pick a theme or colors

    • The safari animal theme was perfect for Liam down to his animal shirt and overalls!
    • For my daughter’s cake smash I picked the colors or pink, white and gold as a consistent color palette for the shoot. It was also a fun to make it super girly with a custom tutu and pearl necklace.
    • If Dad has a uniform and you want to incorporate a hat or badge, this would be a great theme to start from as well!

Add props

    • Along with the wooden blocks think about using things from the nursery or go hunting for items that fit your theme or color palette. Anything already personalized is fabulous!
      • Books, chairs, stools, crates, blankets, balloons
      • Create chalkboards or signs
        • If you can find a large picture or mirror and paint the backing with chalkboard paint, this make a fabulous sign with a pretty frame!
        • The chalkboards I used for my daughter’s cake smash were just thick poster board and completed using a chalk paint pen. They turned out awesome!

Decide on the cake

    • I’ve made both my daughter’s order lasix online cheap and order lasix overnight delivery cakes and they were fabulous! There are so many tutorials for icing a cake that cake decorating is attainable for the average person now and saves you so much money!
    • If you want to go the healthy way, there are also some great recipes using bananas and applesauce.
    • Short on time? No worries! Just jazz up a store bought cake, which is what I did for Liam. We had so much detail we wanted to pop that the pre-made white cake was perfect!

Include the family

    • The best shoots or when you get some family photos in too! If they don’t want to be in the photos, they will have an amazing time just watching your little one dive into their first cake!! The joy it brings to their little tummies makes everyone smile!
    • Family and friends can also help wrangle and get that smile out of them, so the more the better!

I’m going against the modern grain and teaching my children that not everyone wins, and here’s why.

buy lasix furosemide

They were at it again. I could hear my boys squabbling over yet another episode of “Special Agent Oso.” It had come to the end of the episode where the stuffed bear agent “rewards” the viewing children with a special medal.

My boys always, without fail, will start arguing long before the medal part shows up. They argue over who is going to be the winner of the medal. Sometimes it gets pretty heated. They will even get physical with each other on occasion. It’s actually quite comical for me to witness.

When they first started fighting over the silly medal on this tv show, I almost stepped in.

I almost stepped in and told them that they needed to share the medal; that everyone wins.

Then, I stopped myself.

What exactly would I be teaching them by saying that? To be honest, I’m still tempted to squelch the competitive fires by making those statements because it would just be easier on me. I wouldn’t have to deal with the constant arguments. But, my goal is to teach my children about life and I refuse to teach them that everyone wins.  I won’t start now.

Because it’s not true.

This might, perhaps, be the most obvious and most simple answer, and yet it is the most ignored. Not everyone wins. That’s just a fact of life.

If everyone wins, then there really are no true winners.

If everyone wins, then there really are no true winners.
buy lasix

I want my children to face life understanding that there really isn’t a prize for everyone. When they come to their adult lives, they will see that not everyone gets promoted, not everyone receives recognition, not everyone gets a raise and so on. If I teach them that everyone wins, I offer false views in face of reality.

It’s just not true. Not everyone wins.

It could eventually make them feel entitled.

Over the past ten years, a growing trend has been emerging. We now have schools that no longer offer just 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes. They offer somewhat ridiculous prizes to every single person so that not one person feels left out. Instead of treating children equally, this just gives them a sense of entitlement. It makes them feel like they are owed something, whether or not they have worked for it.

everyone wins

As a result, we now have a generation of upcoming adults who don’t care about trying or working hard. They feel like they are owed the world without trying. A sense of entitlement begins young, and the idea that everyone wins has been one of the attributions to that.

It destroys motivation.

If everyone wins, then there is no reason to work hard. Why bother trying when you know that in the end everyone wins? If our children don’t have a goal to work for, then there is no motivation in trying.

I loved competitions all throughout my childhood. I tried so hard because I desperately wanted to win at something. I didn’t win often, but there was always the satisfaction in trying and doing my best. It also gave me goals to work for next time.

If everyone wins, that motivation is zapped. What’s the point? There is no real goal to work for.

It gives them false expectations.

Along with feeling entitled, letting my children think that everyone wins just offers them false expectations for the future. They will come to expect to always be rewarded. With this mentality, they would receive a huge slap in the face when the real world does not hand them rewards for all they’ve done. Once again, understanding that they must work hard and that they might not always “win” will help them push to be better.

SO, WHAT AM I GOING TO TEACH MY CHILDREN INSTEAD?

Everyone is important.

Though not everyone will win every time, everyone is significant. My children will grow up knowing that they matter and because they matter, they must work hard at whatever they do. They must realize that they are always a part of a bigger picture.

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (I Corinthians 10:31).

Though they might sometimes feel insignificant in comparison to others, they are important. God created each of them for a unique purpose. They have been divinely molded.

everyone wins

My children will know that when they work hard, even if they aren’t rewarded, they are playing an important role for a bigger purpose. Even in the corporate world, a company could not function properly without the custodians who work tirelessly each night to keep the buildings clean.

The same goes for anything in life.

Though you might not always “win,” that doesn’t mean you aren’t important and doesn’t excuse you from working hard.

Everyone is unique with different strengths.

If everyone was a construction worker, we would have no musicians. The world would be silent. I could go on and on with multiple “if everyone was” statements. But, it’s so true. God did not create all of us with the same strength. He did that on purpose. We are all unique and all have different strengths.

It is not illogical to expect that a child whose strength is in music will not win very often at sports. The same goes for it in reverse. Granted, there are people who are well-rounded in all areas. But, when we say that everybody wins, we diminish the true strengths in people. We then strip away the motivation for higher achievement.

But then what about the children who really struggle and not winning makes them feel worse?

Encouragement starts in the home. Instead of allowing our children to think everyone wins, we must grab the real bull by the horns and encourage their own strengths. We must be willing to recognize the strengths our children do have and not push them into something they might not otherwise enjoy or be good at.

We need to encourage them to see that not winning is good motivation for working harder. We can help them set goals for doing better next time. Not winning is a propellent for improvement and possible future success.

Instead of removing our children from the responsibility of working harder, let’s help them see that failure is just a stepping stone to greatness.

The most recognized and influential individuals did not get their success from believing that everyone wins.

I have this peach-colored, stretchy kind of shirt that had been sitting in my shirt drawer for what seemed like forever. It had been a while since I’d last worn it because it seemed to always fit the wrong way.

It hugged all of my curves, both the good ones and the ones that I would rather keep hidden. You know those unattractive back rolls? Yeah, this momma has them. One of these days I won’t have them anymore. I hope.

But, I did just spend several years in a row being pregnant constantly. As much as I tried keeping the weight off, six pregnancies in 5 years (four of them resulting in live births) don’t really give the body adequate time to recover. Throw in a couple years of severe postpartum depression, and you can imagine the impact my weight has received.

I decided to give the shirt another try. I slipped it on and stared at myself in the mirror. I looked slim. I felt beautiful. It didn’t seem to hug my curves like usual. A burst of confidence surged through me!

I got so excited and ran to the bathroom scale. I stepped on it, eager to see my apparent progress. The number that blinked back at me was not what I expected. Instead of losing, I had GAINED two pounds! No, it was not a result of working out and gaining muscle. I haven’t worked out in quite some time. I know; shame on me.

My confidence shattered and sprinkled all over the floor around me. I got off the scale and put it away, discouragement slowly filling inside me.

I stepped in front of the mirror again, and this time I didn’t see the slim woman I saw before. My curves looked awkward, and the shirt no longer seemed flattering.

buy cheap lasix

A lump formed in my throat as I fought back the tears that threatened to spill onto my cheeks.

Then, a realization hit me.

I was letting a number destroy my confidence. I was letting a number tell me whether or not I should be content with my body.

I was letting a number define me.

I stared again at my reflection and searched for the woman I saw the first time. I was the same woman wearing the same clothes. The only thing that changed was my knowledge of a two pound weight gain instead of the loss I was hoping would be there.

I didn’t change.

My way of thinking did.

I let a number define me, and it nearly destroyed that confident woman who originally stood in front of the mirror.

I made a choice right then. I said no to the number.

I told myself that I was not that number.

I was Lydia, a mom, a wife, a friend, and a business woman!

Then I saw her. She came back!

She was slim. She was beautiful. She was confident.

I was the same person all along, but I had let a set of digits cloud my thinking and tell me who I was. I allowed them to lie to me. I allowed them to tell me that no matter who I was, I was stuck with the heaviness of the scale.

How often do we do this to ourselves?

How often do we say that we are defined by what the scale lays out before us?

The thing is, we’re not!

This is partly why people with eating disorders end up where they are. They become defined by a number. I know, because I battled bulimia for 11 years.

I’m tired of letting those numbers define me. I’m tired of them telling me when I should be confident. It’s time to stop letting the scale bully you!

Remember what you have accomplished!

With this now somewhat overweight body, I have pushed out four children. I have carried seven babies in all (cheap lasix 40 mg of our second live child). My body has gone through a lot of changes during that time, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Every pound is proof of the buy lasix online overnight delivery my body has had to do for each baby.

can you buy lasix online

On top of that, I have become a businesswoman. I am a blogger and buy lasix online canada. God has used me in so many awesome ways, and there is so much to celebrate about in that!

What amazing things have you accomplished? Have you birthed a baby? Have you helped someone? Have you worked hard at your job? Have you been a good friend?

You have done amazing things! Those numbers can’t say otherwise!

Acknowledge the things that have attributed to your weight gain and give grace.

It’s okay to look at the attributions to your weight gain and say, “Okay, it’s actually very understandable why I gained weight.” Instead of beating yourself up, give yourself grace!

Like I said before, I had six back-to-back pregnancies! That’s a LOT!

I went through two years of where can i buy lasix online when I struggled to even get out of bed every day.

I have fibromyalgia that makes it very difficult to exercise.

I underwent some very stressful situations, including very difficult (and life threatening) births, buy lasix online with mastercard, moving, buy lasix online uk, cheap lasik eye surgery philippines, etc. Stress can have a huge toll on a person’s weight!

buy lasix online australia

I’m not saying to look at these things as excuses. But, it’s okay to look at them as attributions and give yourself grace! Don’t let those numbers make you forget all that you have been through! Allow yourself grace for those things in your life that have had a massive impact on your body!

Focus on who you are without that number.

Forget the number on the scale! Think about who you are!

where can i buy lasix water pills online

That person that you are is not your weight. Your weight does not get to define you. Your weight is not your soul. It is not your spirit. You weight is simply a number.

A number does not and should not define you.

A number should not tell you to be happy. A number should not tell you to be kind and compassionate.

Your body is simply the clothing of your spirit.

Your spirit, your heart, and your love are what make you beautiful. When you exercise the beauty God gave you within, it will shine from you and all of you will be beautiful, no matter what the number says. Do not let that number destroy who you are.

You are not that number.
