Meet “This Marine Wife”

Lydia Maternity Web-1-3

Hi there! My name is Lydia, and I am the voice behind “And This Marine Wife.” Before I tell you anything else, you should know that I love love love coffee! If you love coffee too, then we’re already best friends! I am a late twenties girl from Pennsylvania. People always tell me that they can definitely tell I’m from Pennsylvania by the way I talk. I don’t necessarily have some crazy accent. But, I apparently phrase my sentences in a way that gives away the Pennsylvania Dutch blood in me. My husband likes to make fun of the way I talk sometimes. You would think that being an English major in college would have changed how I talk. But, alas, I still speak funny. Hey, at least I write properly, for the most part. Although, I like to take some liberty with the way I write on my blog. Don’t judge.

I met and married the most handsome Marine in 2009. We had a whirlwind romance, and we’re still going strong. You can read more about our love story {here}. I truly feel like God orchestrated our love story in such an intricate way. There is no doubt that we were designed for each other.

Evan is my love, my rock, my best friend. He brings out the best in me. I can’t stand to be without him. He encourages me in everything I do, whether it be projects, my blog, or life at home. He challenges and encourages me in my walk with God. He is the spiritual partner that I need when I am discouraged or going through hard times. He knows how to lift me up when I’m down. He knows how to lead me to God when I don’t know where to turn. Aside from God, He loves me in the deepest way possible, as I do him. He is and always will be everything I have ever wanted and more.

Evan and I are a team. We tell each other everything. There are no secrets. We love each other to the moon and back. Yes, we will hit rough patches in our marriage. We already have. But, we made a promise to God and ourselves. We will stick with it, through the good and the bad. We are strong believers and put our faith in God. We try to follow God’s leading in our lives.

My husband has recently started writing occasionally for my blog, and his posts have been received very well. Our hope is to be an encouragement and help to those who are hurting.

God has blessed us with three amazing, handsome little boys and a precious baby girl! We also have three angel babies whom we miss very much. I’ve written a lot about our struggles with pregnancy loss. Our boys are fun and crazy and love to keep us on our toes! There is never a dull moment in this house!

I love all things DIY and any crafts I can do with the kids. I sometimes like to occasionally whip up a recipe here and there. I’m never one to keep things the way they are, so I enjoy switching up our house decor and decorating on a budget. (We love thrift shopping. You never know what amazing things you can find for super cheap!) If something can be made out of pallet wood, my husband and I are there with tools in hand, ready to try out a new project. We absolutely LOVE antiques and will find any excuse to visit an antique store, even if it’s just to window shop. Most likely though, we almost always walk away with something in hand.

I also really enjoy photography and given the opportunity, I’ll pull out my camera and do a photo shoot here and there or snap pictures just because.

In my “spare” time, I work on items for my two Etsy shops:

military items

LE’s Creations is where I sell all my handmade military items. I sell everything from jewelry to hair accessories to home decor. My most popular items are the cammie wreaths, the cammie picture frame, and the petite cammie earrings. This is my absolute favorite shop to make things for, because it is close to my heart. I love creating things for other people who support the military.

vintage items

Popsies and Lace is my shop where I can become super creative and make pretty things. Through this shop, I get to feed my love for the vintage style. In Popsies and Lace, I sell fashion and vintage inspired accessories. I also sell several vintage inspired bridal items, including veiled hair pieces. I love taking custom orders and creating something special for each bride or individual.

If you are a fellow DIY-er and love vintage things, then we are already kindred spirits! Please feel free to contact me and find me on Facebook. We could also be Insta-besties on Instagram! You can find me here: @andthismarinewife. If you’re feeling really spunky, you can find me on Pinterest! I hope to connect with you and talk away, since I LOVE talking!

Want to know more about me? You can read more {here}! While you’re at it, join me for a cup of coffee! (As you can see, I already drank most of mine. Time for a re-fill!)
